FAQ: buying and exporting trucks and machinery

How long before shipment?

A vehicle or machine in stock usually ships within 3 to 7 weeks, depending on the destination and the model. If you ask for a specific body or equipment, allow a little longer: the exact lead time is stated in our quote.

How does payment work?

We accept international bank transfer, letter of credit and, for some amounts, card payment; the deposit can also be paid in cash at our office in Belgium. A deposit reserves the vehicle for you. We do not offer credit.

Which documents do you receive for customs clearance?

The commercial invoice (and a proforma invoice if needed), the Bill of Lading to collect the goods at the port, the certificate of origin if your country requires it and, for European models, the manufacturer's certificate of conformity. Clearance is handled by a local clearing agent; we can recommend one.

Is the vehicle inspected and insured before departure?

Yes. Each vehicle is checked before shipment and you receive a report with photos. We also offer marine transport insurance, on quotation, covering loading, unloading, incidents at sea and loss in transit.

Can you supply spare parts?

Yes, genuine parts for the models we sell. We can also add a set of wear parts to your order, so that the first spares are available on site.

Which type of truck should I choose for export?

It depends on the use: a chassis cab is fitted locally (flatbed, tipper, tanker, crane), a tipper works on construction sites and quarries, a tractor unit with semi-trailer handles long-distance haulage. Describe your activity in your request: we will point you to the right model.

Can you fit a body on the chassis cab before departure?

Yes, on request: a tipper body, flatbed, crane or other equipment can be fitted before shipment. Otherwise the chassis cab ships bare and is fitted in your country. Mention it in your request, as the lead time depends on it.

What should I specify to get a tipper truck quote?

The use (construction site, quarry, sand or gravel haulage), the tipper body volume you need and the port of destination. We will reply with the price of the truck and the transport.

Can you supply the semi-trailer with the tractor unit?

Yes: tipper, flatbed, low-bed or container semi-trailer, quoted with the tractor unit in a single offer, transport included.

What should I specify to get a water tanker quote?

The tank capacity you need, the use (drinking-water delivery, spraying, construction site) and the port of destination. We will reply with the price of the truck and the transport.

What should I specify to get a crane truck quote?

The lifting capacity and reach you need, the use (materials, containers, equipment) and the port of destination.

How is construction machinery shipped?

By RoRo vessel for machines that can be driven, or in containers and on flat racks depending on size. We arrange transport to the African port of your choice and state it in our quote.

How do I choose the excavator size?

According to the job: mini excavator for trenches and tight spaces, mid-size excavator for general earthmoving, heavy excavator for quarries and mining. State the operating weight or the planned work in your request.

What should I specify to get a wheel loader quote?

The use (truck loading, quarry, yard, port), the bucket volume you need and the port of destination.

Which generator power should I choose?

Add up the power of the equipment to supply and keep a 20 to 30% margin for motor and air-conditioner start-up. As a guide: 5 to 15 kVA for a house, 20 to 60 kVA for a shop or workshop, 100 kVA and more for an industrial site or a hospital. We help you size your generator.

Open or soundproof generator, with or without transfer switch?

In town or near homes, choose a soundproof (canopy) generator. For automatic switch-over during grid outages, choose a model with an automatic transfer switch (ATS). Mention it in your request.

Which bus capacity should I choose?

A minibus suits shuttles and short routes, a coach suits intercity and school transport over long distances. State the number of seats and the use in your request: we will suggest the right model.

Can you supply the tractor unit and the semi-trailer together?

Yes: we can quote the tractor unit and the semi-trailer in a single offer, including transport to your port.

2-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive tractor?

A 2WD tractor suits flat, dry land and costs less to buy and maintain. A 4WD tractor is needed on soft, wet or sloping ground and for heavy work such as deep ploughing. Describe your crops and land: we will advise you.
